Maths - Primary

At NIA we aim to provide a rich, broad and balanced curriculum that promotes “understanding” over “learning rules”.

Our primary maths curriculum follows the three main aims of the National Curriculum: Fluency, reasoning and problem solving. Through our big ideas and key objectives we have created a curriculum that aims to link children’s learning between topics as well as within topics.  We aim to provide an inclusive curriculum that is accessible for all and aim for all children to be challenged, regardless of ability. Through manipulatives in the classroom and different mathematical representations of ideas, children will be encouraged to think harder and demonstrate their cognitive understanding in a variety of ways.
