Students from Northampton International Academy enjoyed a special visit from polar explorer Captain Louis Rudd to learn about his momentous journey across Antarctica.
In December, Captain Rudd completed a 56-day, 920-mile solo trek across the Antarctic continent, becoming the first Briton and second in the world to complete this journey and raising £50,000 for ABF The Soldiers' Charity.
The British Army Captain visited the school as part of a four-month schools programme where he will be hoping to inspiring young people by sharing the story of his incredible voyage.
Capt Rudd said: “Today’s talk was something a bit different for the pupils and a way to help them learn more about Antarctica and polar history.
“They seemed to really enjoy it and I had some great questions from them.”
Headteacher Tim Marston said: “It was a real privilege for us to welcome Capt Rudd to Northampton International Academy to talk to the pupils about his amazing expedition.
“His talk was hugely inspiring and shows our young people that, while not many of us could complete a mission like this, they shouldn’t be afraid to aim high and work hard for what they want to achieve in life.”
