Northampton International Academy is inviting businesses to offer support and advice to pupils to help them prepare for the world of work.
The school will be hosting a ‘Breakfast with the Professionals’ event on Tuesday 27th November from 8am to 9.30am and is encouraging local companies to come along.
Evidence shows that the more schools involve local industry experts, the better students grasp the realities of where their subjects fit into the future world of work.
How can businesses help?
People are being asked to share their skills, knowledge and interesting life stories with students and staff by:
Being part of a series of breakfast career talks
Inviting small targeted groups of students to visit their workplace
Working with staff to enhance the curriculum
Supporting enterprise days and Dragons Den style events
Being an industry link to support the sixth form curriculum, including law, engineering, arts, finance and economics
Offering a specialist talk within lessons to support pupils' studies
What will businesses gain from taking part?
Employers are concerned that students do not have the skills required to do entry level jobs. This is an opportunity to change that
It’s a chance to cherry pick and develop their own youth programmes for the future.
It can support award entries including sustainability programmes and Investors in People awards
It will contribute towards their corporate social responsibility work
It’s a great opportunity to add something to their own CV
They simply want to share their skills with the younger generation
