New scholarship programme launched at Northampton International Academy

Northampton International Academy has launched a scholarship programme open to students joining its new sixth form next year.

There will be five scholarships available to students who want to continue their education post-16 but require financial support. A total of £2,500 is available over two years to help with the costs of any equipment pupils need for their studies.

The scholarship programme is aimed at students who have demonstrated exceptional academic, artistic, musical or leadership talent.

The scholarships will be available from September 2019, when Northampton International Academy welcomes its first sixth form intake.

Headteacher Tim Marston said: “At NIA, we believe that every young person should have the opportunity to continue their studies post-16 regardless of their background or family circumstances.

“This new scholarship programme will enable students to continue their education with us – whether that be A levels or a vocational course – without having to worry about how they will fund their studies.

“I would encourage anyone who would like to find out more about a scholarship at NIA, and about our sixth form provision, to come along to our open evening on Thursday 22nd November.”

The scholarship will be paid in instalments totalling £300 in Year 12 and £200 in Year 13.

To apply, students are asked to submit a written statement outlining why they deserve a scholarship, provide a reference and have an interview with the headteacher and head of sixth form.

Northampton International Academy will be offering a range of courses from September 2019 as part of its sixth form offer, including A levels and BTEC qualifications.

Find out more about the sixth form at NIA at the sixth form open evening on Thursday 22nd November from 6pm to 8pm.
