Meet our Governors
Ben Shirley (chair of LAB)
Ben is a specialist health and safety inspector for the Office of Rail and Road (ORR). Ben is both NEBOSH and IRM qualified and specialises in risk management. Additionally, Ben acts as the lead inspector for Chiltern Railways and is the ORR lead for multiple, cross-sector Health and Safety governance groups.

Martin Thompson
Martin is head of production for the Royal & Derngate in Northampton, one of the country’s major producing venues which was named Regional Theatre of the Year by the inaugural Stage 100 Awards in 2011 and nominated again in 2015. Martin is responsible for the delivery of the Made in Northampton season, including all sound, lighting, set, props, scenic art and wardrobe, on time and on budget.
Martin comes from an engineering background and studied acoustical engineering at university. Martin also works as a freelance theatrical sound designer.
Bruce McDonald
Bruce is a specialist business development manager for a large financial organisation.
Jon Musgrove
Jon is a lecturer at the University of Northampton, delivering an International Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) course. He was previously a commercial business consultant working in the UK and abroad, largely in the healthcare sector, having started his working life as a hopsital nurse.
Alexis Castillo-Soto
Alexis is deputy director/digital delivery group manager at Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency working with IT solutions and services. Alexis delivered one of the first successful programmes delivering transformational government, where the approach became the template for others working to meet the required standards.
He has worked with individual consultants, SMEs and the Tier1 Service Integrators, ensuring clear deliverables and building strong relationships.
Alexis has worked with a diverse range of technologies from Open Source, Appian, Azure, AWS, MuleSoft, Tibco, Documentum to meet business requirements. He has asked to speak at conferences and sit on relevant advisory panels.
