Welcome from the Head

Northampton International Academy is a vibrant educational community where high expectations, a passion for deep knowledge and a commitment to fostering strong personal characteristics combine to set our children and young people on the pathway to long term success.

Situated in the heart of Northampton, NIA has a strong bond with the local community outside its walls and a warm sense of community within them. As a local school with a global vision, we also look beyond our immediate location so that NIA pupils understand the wider world and how education can help them access local, national and international opportunities and experiences. We are over-subscribed in Year 7 and, when NIA is full to its capacity of 2,300, we shall be the largest free school in England. Despite our scale, we work hard to ensure that every child is known, supported and challenged as an individual. I am proud to say that we have a real holistic sense of our pupils, with an emphasis on promoting wellbeing as well as academic excellence. EMAT’s values of inclusion, innovation, inspiration, integrity and impact are tangible in all aspects of academy life.

If you watch the video of Our Story on this website, which shows how EMAT had the vision and ability to transform an old disused postal sorting office into a state-of-the-art educational hub, you will learn that NIA has transformation in its DNA. We are committed to transforming lives, opportunities and the futures of the children and young people in our care as they move through all stages of their education with us.

We firmly believe that education promotes opportunity and choice and we are committed to giving every member of our school community those advantages.

Dr Jo Trevenna

In early years settings and primary schools, we recommend that face coverings should be worn by adults where social distancing between adults is not possible, such as corridors and communal areas. Children in these settings should not wear a face covering.
