Northampton International Academy is looking for an outstanding Food Technology teacher to join our rapidly expanding talented team in our DT department.
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Food Technology Teacher to join our dynamic team. The successful applicant will be required to teach at all levels in Key Stage 3 and 4. We offer exceptional opportunities for professional development.

Northampton International Academy is part of the East Midlands Academy Trust, it is an all through school, 4–19, and opened in September 2016. In July 2019, the academy achieved an Ofsted rating of Good.
It is a fantastic time to join NIA as it has its first Year 12 intake, as well as further groups in the primary phase and by 2021 the school will have over 2000 pupils. This will make NIA one of the largest free schools in the country.

Teach Food Technology to groups of students from all abilities across years 7 – 11.
Ensure that all lessons are planned with clear aims and objectives. and ensure that all lessons are delivered in line with the departmental schemes of work and school policies.
Take into account the differing ability lessons of students and differentiate work accordingly and encourage all students to be actively engaged in their own learning and in reviewing their progress against targets.
Check that all subject matter is effectively communicated and understood by all groups of students, and set appropriate tasks and challenges for homework according ensuring that it is regularly marked with constructive feedback.
Keep records of student progress in line with departmental and school policy. · Keep work areas tidy and well organised.
Work with colleagues in the DT Department to formulate plans relevant to the needs of the students and attend scheduled meetings in the DT Department and school.
Help develop Food Technology resources for the school and participate in events such as trips and primary liaison.
Set appropriate work for classes within Food Technology during any periods of absence and make sure that the work is thoroughly reviewed on return.
Act as a positive role model and promote the aims, values and ethos of the school and uphold all rules and policies, carrying out the normal duties of teacher.
Participate in appropriate meetings with colleagues and parents
Undertake Performance Management and continue own personal development in accordance with the School’s Performance Management
Enforce the school’s behaviour and uniform policies on a daily basis.
Ensure the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date information on all classes taught and take appropriate action on issues arising from data, systems and reports. Also, be able to produce reports for the department on assessment data, including examination data.
Participate in appropriate meetings effectively
Communicate and consult with parents and carers of students.
