The Government provides funding to schools on an annual basis to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer. The funding is being jointly provided by the Department of Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.
For the academic year 2017/2018, NIA received £12 067 in Sports Premium funding. This funding is to support sports development within school. Initially the funding was used to pay for the purchase of sports equipment for the primary sports hall to support learning within the curriculum.
For the academic year 2018/2019, NIA will receive totalling £18 360 in Sports Premium funding.
The funding has been used primarily to extend equipment available for curriculum use and to provide equipment for extra-curricular activities.
